Grand Inizio Sdn Bhd

Grand Inizio is principally an engineering and technology company, one of the very few in Malaysia that specializes in the following:-

  1. Biofuel technology;
  2. Betacarotine and tocotrienol extraction technology;
  3. Other oleochemical based technology.

Grand Inizio has developed its own biodiesel processing technology which allows plant operators to produce biodiesel that complies fully with the European EN14214 standard using any refined oil as feedstock (i.e. palm, jathropha, rapeseed, etc).  The technology, which the Inizio is patenting, promises low production cost as the proprietary technology boasts of energy saving features as it is able to handle high moisture throughout the production process, a trait not found in any competitor technology.  The technology also caters for using off-spec feedstock whilst maintaining end product quality, thus enabling would-be producers to source for lower cost feedstock.

Founded in January 2006, Grand Inizio represents the corporatisation and pooling of some of the best minds in oleochemical process engineering in Malaysia.  The people behind Grand Inizio have been providing consultancy services for processing plants since the early 1990s and have designed and built over 50 processing plants over the years.

Since its inception, Grand Inizio has been awarded several multi-million ringgit contracts in rapid succession to build medium to large scale biodiesel plants in Malaysia and Indonesia that uses refined oil (such as vegetable oil and jathropha oil) as feedstock.

ECO Sponge Sdn Bhd

Eco-Sponge is a Malaysian company formed in 2007 to undertake the production and marketing of a filtration compound commonly used in biofuel process.

The filtration compound, marketed under the trademark name “Eco-Sponge”, is a chemical mixture of magnesium silicate and clay used in the biofuel process to keep the conversion of fatty oil free from impurities.  “Eco-Sponge” has the advantage of being cheaper than any other alternatives found in the market today and will be deployed in Grand Inizio’s biofuel processing technology.  This filtration compound has enormous cost advantages as it is being offered at lower price of a similar product from the United States.

Eco-Sponge is targeted to be sold in the various biofuel producing countries around the world.

Nexfuel Sdn Bhd

Nexfuel was formed in December 2006 to undertake Asia Bioenergy Group’s bioethanol project.  Nexfuel will principally be a bioethanol producer using cassava as raw materials.

Nexfuel has obtained approval from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia vide its letter dated 23 May 2007 to undertake the bioethanol project and on 11 July 2007 obtained pioneer status which carries a 70% tax exemption for 5 years.

Nexfuel intends to site its bioethanol production plant in Kulim, Malaysia.  The plant with an initial production capacity of 60,000 metric tones per annum is expected to be commission some time end-2008.

Upon commissioning of the plant, Nexfuel is expected to export its fuel grade bioethanol to ready and growing markets in USA, Europe and Japan. Closer to home, Nexfuel expects that government support end environmental pressures will soon require petrol fuel in Malaysia to have a similar renewable energy blend as those found in the developed countries.  The Group believes Nexfuel will have first mover advantage in Malaysia as there are no such fuel grade bioethanol plants in Malaysia.

In the longer term, Nexfuel is also in discussions with various quarters for the planting of the feedstock for ethanol in Malaysia such as cassava and sweet sorghum.
